Year by year, huge amounts of damages happen in areas like construction, civil engineering, agriculture, viticulture, government, and retail due to weather conditions.
Climalinks with its innovative weather intelligence tool offers a solution to this problem by combining a Weather Relations Management (WRM) Software and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS) to empower businesses.
About the customer
ClimaLinks is at the forefront of weather intelligence, born from the innovative minds of Dr. Jake Casselman and Annie Chang, both accomplished PhDs from ETH Zurich. Their mission is to redefine the relationship between businesses and weather data, transforming static forecasts into dynamic decision-making tools.
UX/UI Design
The Design Process
When it came to the design process of Climalinks, our first steps were to define how the functions of the tool are going be structured, and how the logics between the pages is going to happen. During the process, the tool went through several usability tests, and iteration rounds, that resulted in a user optimazed final product.
After the UX Design steps, we started to create the visuals as well. We opted for different shades of blue colour, since it radiates trustworthiness, and reliability, and we combined it up with colors like red, yellow, and green, which we used mostly to inform the user if they any action is needed to be taken.

About Software
To facilitate collaboration with ClimaLinks, we needed to establish a unique combination of Weather Relations Management (WRM) tools and Data-as-a-Service (DaaS). This integration transforms weather data into actionable business insights. Processing a huge volume of data in a time-efficient manner is crucial, and Rust has been instrumental in allowing us to process terabytes of data daily on Google Cloud.
To support the latest trends and ensure a modern, responsive UI, we chose React.
Firebase Authentication takes care of all authentication-related tasks.
Hasura, with its GraphQL resolver, in conjunction with Firebase Functions, handles the custom business logic. This setup allows for scalability and cost-effectiveness, thanks to Cloud Run.
