Rotower is a self-operating hydroponic system for environmentally friendly plant cultivation. The application functions as a control panel for this system, and it allows users to monitor the growth of their plants placed into rotating towers.
About the problem and how it is solved
Nowadays traditional farming is becoming less and less sustainable, and to harvest certain crops, the farmers have to use way too much water, space, chemicals and hire too many workers.
Rotower offers a green solution for plantation, by creating hyrdopondic rotating towers, that contain the plants, and with this they are saving enormous amounts of water, space, and workforce.
About the customer
Rotower’s main vision is to introduce more sustainable farming solutions to the everyday life, and empowering the business and empowering Earth at the same time.
UX/UI Design
The Design Process
During the design progress of Rotower our main goal was to create a visual system, that reflects the already existing one that the company was using.
We added the more vivid, greenish colours combined with some grey toned ones, so they get highlighted among them. As for the design elements, we were mostly using rounded ones just like for example in the case of the floating navbar.

About Software
We collaborated with an innovative Hungarian startup to set up mobile and admin applications for managing the tower of their self-operating hydroponic system.
Given the need to support iOS, Android, and web platforms, it was crucial that we opted for cross-platform support with Flutter.
To manage thousands of messages every minute over MQTT, we selected one of the most scalable open-source MQTT brokers, EMQX. Additionally, we set up a server with NestJS for processing and executing post-actions after every message.
