The challenge

Year after year, billions in damages occur across construction, civil engineering, agriculture, viticulture and retail due to weather events. Most businesses have no way to act on forecasts before harm is done.

Our solution

We designed and built a WRM platform combining a React frontend, Hasura GraphQL API, Firebase Functions and a Rust processing engine that handles terabytes of data daily. The UX went through multiple usability test cycles to validate alert clarity and workflow.

Climalinks empowers businesses to move from reactive to proactive. Founded by two ETH Zurich PhDs, the platform now serves clients across industries where weather risk directly affects the bottom line.

Design & UX

Trust through clarity

We chose a blue-dominant palette that communicates trustworthiness — critical for a data product used by decision-makers. Red, yellow and green accents serve as intuitive action signals, reducing the time it takes to act on an alert.

Multiple rounds of usability testing refined the alert hierarchy and task flows, ensuring that the interface works under time pressure — exactly when it needs to.

The tech stack

Rust powers the data processing engine — handling terabytes of weather data daily with the performance required at scale. React and Hasura deliver a responsive, real-time interface. Firebase and Google Cloud handle auth, functions and deployment.
